The Tumbleweed Worm Farm is a composter comprising of two sturdy polypropylene boxes, which are nested inside each other. The upper box has a perforated floor and a lid, and the lower box is fitted with a drain sprout.
Line the base of the top box with two layers of dampened newspaper. Add partially rotted compost or potting mix, to form a 1-2” layer.
Add worms to your Tumbleweed Worm Farm and cover with a piece of dampened burlap or plastic such as a garbage bag cut to size. Place scraps beneath the cover. By having worms in the top portion of the bin, the waste (liquid tea) filters through the perforated holes into the bottom bin that can be combined with water for use as fertilizer rich in nutrients for organic gardening. As worms eat the bacteria in the scraps there is no odor. |
